Would love this ❤

I think the only missing feature in this for me is the ability to add notes/attachments within the quick capture - specifically the use case is pasting a URL, and me wanting that to be taken out of the task name and added to the attachments and/or notes section.
Could either extract URLs automatically, or perhaps the '&' feels suitable markup for an attachment?

Basically am happy with the Linear integration as it currently stands whereby you get the nice logo and 'Open in Linear', and would love it to be a smoother transition when building my Ellie tickets for the day
Chris
No name I actually would like this too for the
exact
same use case. I keep pasting Linear links into Ellie 😅was considering doing some magic where i extract the page title from the url and do that type of swap but there are cases where the title is hidden if the user doesn't have permission so i abandoned. Will revisit though

For due dates, writing "task due X" leads to the task being scheduled for X, not due date set to X. Could this be improved? Thanks for creating this app!
Another helpful thing would be having the same quick capture NLP for the normal brain dump adding. I see no reason why this is not done.
Chris
Lucas Ah thats a good point. I think when I created this I didn't factor in due dates. What language would makes sense for setting the date? "Grocery Tuesday"? something where it just detects? and then if its "due X" its due date?
L
Lucas
Chris Yes, “grocery tuesday” would work for example on Todoist as well. Maybe if the user doesn’t have the due date feature on, then “due tuesday” can also schedule to that day.

Rolled out to all users now for testing!
Just hit "Q" and you should see it. This is a v1 and I have a lot of plans for this in the future :)

Chris: Loving this. Would love to be able to assign to a list and add estimated time without @ or = 💯

Looking for a few beta testers to test this on the web 👀
Comment below if interested!
For v1 you'll be able to use NLP for things like date/time and then @lists #label and =1h30m for duration
I'm a bit worried about edge cases (especially since i try to detect date/time as naturally as possible without any sort of prefix keys) so would love to get this tested before integrating it into the Mac app

Just whitelisted your account! Also whitelisted everyone else that voted on this so you should have access to now :)
You can now hit "Q" and the new quick create bar should appear.
Let me know if you have any feedback or find any bugs!
(ps you might have to refresh the page or restart the app to make sure you have the latest version)

Yes pease for windows. Natural language processing of quick add from global hotkey in windows would make the overall experience 2x with that single feature

With this quick capture, I truly hope there will be a way to not having to use your mouse to select for time and label, but that you can (like in Sunsama and Todoist) use all with keyboard shortcuts, for instance:
Call back dad #personal ~15 (min)
Is this on the table for near future?
Edit: Also a possibility of selecting time allocated from drop down. Having to manually write minutes is friction
Edit2: I figured the lists-option worked pretty well for auto-label, but time is still wanted

Chris any chance of seeing this soon?
Chris
Mateus: Working on this very soon!
For transparency:
The Mac app went through a huge overhaul that makes building features on top of it. This week I'm working on a calendar menu bar so you can quickly see calendar events and join meetings (as a test run to get more comfortable building directly for the Mac app) and then once thats released I hope to do quick capture immediately after :)

Chris: that's great! As bench I can recommend a pretty simple but useful app to check on which is Itsycal. The quick capture will probably enhance the Brain Dump usability. Chris, as a Product Mgmt professional and enthusiast of productivity, count on me for any tests, questions you may have.
