I turn off the setting 'Move tasks (and subtasks) to the bottom of the list on complete' but it does not stick and my tasks get moved to the bottom of the list.

I couldn't work out why my choice of setting would sometimes appear to stick for a short time and then fail.

Today I checked off my first task and it stayed at the top of the list. I then clicked the 'Focus' button at the top of today's list. As the screen updated to focus mode my completed task moved to the bottom of the list
